The newest Forgery-proof Austrian ID card – Now available in Keesing Documentchecker
Issued on the 2nd of August 2021, the newest edition of the Austrian ID card has several new security features incorporated in its design in order to combat counterfeits.
The polycarbonate card features a contactless chip that meets the ICAO specifications and makes use of mat shadow image to repeat the photograph of the document holder more than once. Other highlights include the transparent window which contains thermochromic ink that changes colour when it comes into contact with a heat source, and diffractive Identification Device (DID) that allows various images and effects to be generated, including colour changes (shifts) and 2D as well as 3D images.
